Dr Marcella Fok is a Consultant Medical Psychotherapist and Psychoanalyst based in London. She is a native Cantonese speaker and is also proficient in Mandarin.
With over 18 years of clinical experience, Dr Fok specialises in the assessment and treatment of both common and complex mental health conditions. She has worked as an NHS Consultant for 10 years in both general and specialist services. She is particularly interested in holistic care, integrating both pharmacological and psychotherapeutic approaches to treatment.
Dr Fok studied Medicine at the University of Edinburgh and later completed a Research Doctorate in Psychological Medicine (MD(Res)) at King's College London, within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. She completed her psychiatry training at the Maudsley Hospital in Camberwell, London, and received specialist training in Medical Psychotherapy at the Maudsley Hospital, the Halliwick Unit at St Ann’s Hospital in Haringey, and the Tavistock Clinic in London.
She is a qualified psychoanalyst with the British Psychoanalytic Association and offers intensive analytic therapy and psychoanalysis in private practice. She is skilled in a wide range of therapeutic approaches, including mentalization-based therapy, psychodynamic therapy, systemic therapy, cognitive analytic therapy (CAT), and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). She is also an approved supervisor for Mentalization Based Treatment (MBT) by the Anna Freud Centre. She has extensive experience in training and supervising clinicians from different professional backgrounds.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr Fok is actively involved in teaching, supervision, training, and research. She has published academic papers and presented her work at both regional and international conferences.
